Very sad to inform you all that Shree Babaji’s devotee tabla maestro Pandit Lachchhu Maharaj passed away of cardiac arrest in a private nursing home in Varanasi on Thursday 28th July 2016 at 1am. He was 72 years of age.

Maharaj was not only an all time great tabla exponent of India but a long time devotee of Shree Babaji and a true well wisher of the Samaj and its activities. Many Babaji devotees were trained in the art of playing tabla under his tutelage and spent time with him at his home in Varanasi. In his own right he was considered as a GURU and had a big following not only amongst the Haidakhandis but outside too. Whenever possible he would make himself present for Babaji’s functions in India and also visited many of the Ashrams abroad and enthralled all by his tabla performances. He had an in depth knowledge of the Indian scriptures and ayurvedic medicines and would freely give advice to those in need.

His passing away is a big loss for our Haidakhandi Family and to me personally.

Our sympathies and heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Tina and their daughter, now living in Switzerland, on this great loss. We pray to Babaji to bestow peace to the departed soul.

In grief,

Alok Banerjee
