Om Namah Shivay

by Raghuvir

The maha mantra that Lord Shiva, the all pervading universal consciousness has given humanity to remove the obstacles between itself and that what we perceive as ourselves. Om is the primordial sound vibrating throughout the Universe, Namah is salutations and Shivay the universal consciousness.

Being a manifestation of Lord Shiva, Babaji advocated to repeat this mantra all the time, everywhere. We do it in Japa, chanting and kirtan.

Unfortunately in ignorance we do silly things with this holy and most powerful mantra. Between brothers and sisters in this family we also use it t greet each other. Not with the respectful concentration, pronunciation and tone it deserves. It is at times even used to end an argument with angry misdemeanour or to give force to ones opinions. Shri Muniraj and Shri Vishnu Datt Sastri have already told us in the past not to do so but this practice is still taking place a lot in our Haidiyakhandi family. There is no blame but let us together get conscious and contemplate on this, spread this message, translate it in your own languages, say it in your own words in a way that you feel people may participate to root out this wrong practice we have together slipped into. Nobody is doing something wrong, it is just a wrong practice, let us remind each other lovingly of this.

It is mainly a thing which westerners have adopted so let us now try to set it free. One can say namaste or Bhole Baba ki Jai ! Babaji has given us Jai Maha Maya ki Jai as a great slogan. Hari Ram and Hari Om is used a lot in India also or come up with your own to greet the Divine in the person you meet. To end arguments no better slogan then Jai Maha Maya ki jai to put the whole situation in a relative light.

Be inspired to help to stop the wrong use of this powerful mantra of Om Namah Shivay.
